April 2nd to April 6th is Dementia Friendly Community Week. Winona is one of many cities working toward becoming dementia friendly.
There will be many events hosted at the Winona Friendship Center as well as other locations in Winona. For this special week, the Winona Public Library will be hosting not one but two book discussion events.
Both book discussions will center on the book Still Alice by Lisa Genova. In Still Alice, Harvard psychologist Alice Howland is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease. Alice “struggles to find meaning and purpose in her life as her concept of self gradually slips away.” " From Publisher
Winona Public Library’s regular monthly book discussion will take place on Wednesday, April 4th at 2PM in the Library’s Bell Art Room. An additional book discussion event will take place Thursday, April 5th at 6PM also in the Library’s Bell Art Room.
If you cannot make either event, join the discussion online at http://tinyurl.com/WinonaPublicLibraryReads and tell us what you thought of the book.
