Mary Farrell’s, Frozen River Film Festival People’s Choice Award Winning Film on Anne Pellowski, Anne Pellowski: Storyteller to the World will be shown during the Friends of the Winona Public Library Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 19th at 6:30PM at the Winona Public Library.

The film is about Anne Pellowski, a Winona resident, who has traveled around the world conducting workshops in cloth book making and storytelling. Farrell traveled to Kenya with Pellowksi in 2014 to film a weeklong workshop for early childhood educators and parents.

Pellowski became a Children’s Librarian at the New York Public Library before becoming the founding Director of the Information Center on Children’s Cultures for the United States committee at UNICEF.  Pellowski has travelled to over 120 countries ensuring children had access to books in their native language by conducting workshops on cloth bookmaking and storytelling. She has also authored 20 books including the Polish American girl series.

In addition to Farrell’s filmmaking skills, she also sits on the Executive Board of the Friends of the Winona Public Library as the Secretary.

The Friends of the Library are, also, in search of people to fill the following Executive Board positions:  Vice President, Membership Secretary, and a Board of Directors position.
