Winona Digital Literacy Project: Beginner Computer Classes

Are you new to computers?  Do you want to learn how to use the Internet properly?  What about social media and your smartphone?

 

The Winona Digital Literacy Project is offering a series of classes from April 24th to May 22nd that will help out computer beginners.  All classes will be held at Central School (317 Market St) in Room 102 from 6-8PM.  All participants must register.  To register for the classes, go to winonadlp.org/events or call Adult Basic Education at (507) 494-092 or the Winona Public Library at (507) 452-4860.

 

On Tuesday, April 24th, attend the Introduction to Computers class.  In the first hour, learn how to turn computers on, the basic parts/equipment of a computer and the difference between personal computers (Windows, Mac, and Chromebooks).  Then learn about the Internet �" searching email, Google Drive, privacy, and your security.

 

Then on Tuesday, May 1st, learn how to create documents and spreadsheet as well as how to use Google Docs.

 

The next class, held on Tuesday, May 8th, will focus on social media.  What is it all about? Social networks covered are Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

 

On Tuesday, May 15, learn more about the Internet and how to be a good “Net-Citizen.”

 

The last class in the series is Tuesday, May 22nd and will focus on smartphones and how it can be used.
