In the spirit of giving back, Oktoberfest USA has proudly announced a substantial donation of $142,804 to the La Crosse community, supporting a range of local organizations and causes. Following the 63rd annual Oktoberfest held from September 26-29, 2024, the festival organizers recognized the community’s enthusiastic participation by reinvesting in the people and places that make this celebration possible each year.
Supporting Local Causes and Building a Stronger Community
The funds are being directed to local nonprofits, schools, veterans’ groups, and other community organizations that contributed volunteer hours to make the 2024 Oktoberfest a success. Some of the organizations benefiting from this donation include Holy Trinity Parish, the UW-La Crosse Screaming Eagles, La Crescent Animal Rescue, Aptiv Foundation, WI Rush Soccer, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Boy Scouts. Their dedicated volunteers played an essential role in creating a memorable festival experience, and the funds will support their year-round efforts to serve the community.
Oktoberfest: A Festival with a Big Impact
Beyond the direct donations, Oktoberfest is a significant economic driver for the region. According to a study by the UW-Whitewater Fiscal & Economic Research Center, the annual festival contributes approximately $26 million to the Coulee Region’s economy. The study also showed that Oktoberfest’s impact goes beyond finances, with 98% of festival-goers saying they would recommend the event to friends and family. This shows how the festival fosters a sense of community, joy, and local pride, attracting thousands of visitors and supporting local businesses each year.
A Tradition of Festive Giving
Oktoberfest USA, the longest-running Oktoberfest in the Midwest, is more than a festival; it’s a celebration of culture, community, and heritage. Since its start in 1961, Oktoberfest has grown from a small-town celebration to a vibrant gathering that combines traditional German festivities with local pride. Each year, La Crosse comes alive with parades, music, authentic German food, and activities for all ages. The festival, rooted in tradition, continues to evolve while maintaining its commitment to making a positive impact on the community.
